Sangeeta Kaur (Teresa Mai)
Grammy®-Winning Vocalist, Producer & Arts Advocate
Sangeeta Kaur, also known as Teresa Mai, is a Grammy® Award-winning Vietnamese-American soprano, recording artist, concert and event producer, and arts philanthropist whose work is rooted in a deep belief in the power of music to connect, inspire, and transform.
Classically trained, Sangeeta earned her Bachelor of Music in Opera Performance from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance. Her artistry brings together classical, cinematic, and spiritual influences, creating music known for its emotional depth, beauty, and sense of purpose.
In 2022, Sangeeta won the Grammy® Award for Best Classical Solo Vocal Album for Mythologies by composer Danaë Xanthe Vlasse, becoming the first Vietnamese-American singer to receive a Grammy in a vocal category. In 2025, she received another Grammy nomination for Mythologies II in the Best Classical Compendium category. Most recently, Sangeeta was a featured vocalist on composer Patti Drennan’s Requiem of Light, nominated at the 2026 Grammy Awards for Best Choral Performance.
Through her independent labels, Sangeeta Kaur Music and Studio Hill Records, she has released an expansive body of work including Niguma, Ascension, Mirrors, Compassion, Illuminance, and Aurora. Across her recordings and performances, she explores music as a space for reflection, healing, beauty, and human connection.
Her passion for the arts extends far beyond her own work as a performer. As a concert and event producer and arts philanthropist, Sangeeta is committed to creating opportunities for artists and bringing communities together through meaningful shared experiences. At the heart of her work is a belief that music has the power to transcend boundaries, deepen understanding, and create connections that can help shape the future of music and the arts.
Sangeeta serves as a Governor of the Recording Academy Texas Chapter and on the Board of Trustees of Austin Opera, where she continues to advocate for artists, collaboration, and a thriving creative community.
She is also the founder and owner of Studio Hill, a world-class recording studio and creative sanctuary in Austin, Texas, officially celebrating its grand opening in September 2026. Sangeeta envisioned Studio Hill not simply as a place to record music, but as a welcoming home for creativity—a place where artists and members of the creative community can gather, collaborate, explore new ideas, and feel inspired to do their best work.
Whether she is performing, producing a concert, supporting fellow artists, or creating spaces for collaboration, Sangeeta’s purpose remains the same: to use the power of music and the arts to bring people together, foster meaningful connection, and inspire what is possible.
“Her voice is one of wisdom and elegance. I am deeply moved by the depth of her performance and how committed she is to delivering an experience to her audience at a level they never could have expected”
